German company Mercedes-Benz intends to completely abandon the use of manual gearboxes.

This was announced in an interview with the British edition of Autocar by the head of research and development of the German company Markus Schäfer.

In the U.S., the last car of the German brand, equipped with a manual gearbox, was withdrawn from sales back in 2015. In the European car market, the company still offers cars with MACP, but their time will soon run out.

The main reason for the manufacturer's refusal to use mechanical gearboxes is a decrease in consumer interest in these products. Because of this, it makes no sense to spend money on the development of such gearboxes.
